Course Overview
Learn how to build your own Spanish classical guitar and other plucked string instruments. This course is designed for people who are passionate about creating musical instruments, and who wish to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to build professional quality handcrafted instruments.
The comprehensive instrument building course is divided into two modules. You will learn everything from developing templates and molds, assembling the instrument to preparing the instrument for the varnishing stage. This course is suitable for all skill levels and offers a complete theoretical and practical experience.
Courses Details
Amounts: *1 UYU Class $6,750 | *4 Monthly Classes (20% discount) UYU $21.600 (includes all materials).Terms & Conditions: Prepayment. *24 hours notice of cancellation is required for rescheduling.
Participants: Individual classes (personalized attention)
Duration: 3 hour class. Although the duration ranges (see below) the number of classes will depend on the trainee's skills and the project tasks to be performed
Project A: 5 to 7 lessons
- Development of tools, devices, jigs and molds for the construction of musical instruments.
Project B: 9 to 15 lessons
- Sharpening and preparation of working tools.
- Construction and assembly of tops and assembly of rosettes, bars and spinets, preparation and assembly of backs, carving of necks and heads, bending of sides and tailpieces, assembly of headstocks, placement of fillets and borders, preparation of fingerboards, placement of frets, construction of bridges and capos.
- Preparation of the instrument for the varnishing process.
Requirements: Suitable for all audiences who want to learn with the theoretical and practical guidance of a professional luthier. Please note that the use of work clothes, closed toed shoes, and appropriate safety equipment is mandatory at all times in the workshop. This is manual work and will require appropriate clothing and protective gear.
