# Preparation of Master Varnishes

## Course Overview

The master varnish course is designed to train you in the "alchemy" of preparing different types of varnishes and the art of applying them to achieve high-quality finishes on your instruments.

In the classes we develop the master methods and formulas, applying quality control procedures, according to the specific work instructions corresponding to each stage of the processes (using all necessary personal safety elements), to obtain the expected professional results.

The program contains the procedures for the preparation and application of alcohol-based varnishes, mixed varnishes, oil varnishes, pigments and organic compounds, which enhance the beauty and durability of your instruments.

Due to its complexity, this course is indicated for apprentices with intermediate and advanced level skills and knowledge in lutherie.

## Course Contents

Investing in acquiring the necessary knowledge for the preparation and application of organic pigments and master varnishes not only improves the aesthetic, acoustic and protective qualities of your instruments, but also raises your skills in the arts and crafts of lutherie.

- #### Varnish Preparation
  
  Learn how to use resins, components and thinners to prepare different types of varnishes.
- #### Application Techniques
  
  Implement the techniques and procedures for applying alcohol-based varnishes, mixed varnishes and oil-based varnishes to achieve an impeccable finish.
- #### Pigments and Compounds
  
  Use pigments and organic compounds to enhance the visual appeal of your instruments.
- #### Expert Instruction
  
  Work with the guidance of a renowned luthier, who will guide you through every step of the process of preparing pigments and varnishes to apply to your instruments.

## Course Details

**Terms & Conditions:** Prepayment. \***24 hours notice of cancellation is required** for rescheduling.

**Duration:** 2 classes **(10 hours)**

**Participants:** Individual classes **(personalized attention)**

**Requirements:** Suitable for Intermediate and Advanced level trainees only. Please note that **the use of work clothes, shoes, and appropriate safety equipment is mandatory at all times in the workshop.**
